August 17th, 1994: Morgan and Berkeley counties

Two tornadoes occurred on August 17th, 1994 in West Virginia: one in Morgan County and the other in Berkeley County:


TORNADO #1: Morgan County

Details from NWS storm survey: A small tornado touched down about a mile and a half northeast of Paw Paw, WV and moved to the northeast along the southeast side of the Potomac River. It caused widespread tree damage through a very rural area. Path length was about three miles long and width was about 100 yards.


TORNADO #2: Berkeley County

Details from NWS storm survey: A tornado touched down near Route 9 and Benspeck Road, a 0.25 of a mile west of Hedgesville. The tornado damaged three homes, partially destroying one. It destroyed a shed and uprooted some large pine trees. The path length was estimated at 2 miles long and 100 yards wide.
